The 24Hr Comp contestants stood, lost in the array of artistic flair. The buildings in the streets beyond were a canvas for art, rising and falling along the skyline, however, to their right their eyes fell upon a street washed away of any colour; a stark contrast to what had laid before them.
Intrigued they walk towards the grey street, looking for signs of life or inhabitants. As they grew closer to the darkness their footsteps began to echo beneath them. They walked a little more. The contestants were now standing on Cuba street, a street they had heard of a thousand times before, yet something seemed off.
An unfamiliar air and silence grew around them. The colourful bucket fountain that they had pictured being on Cuba street was instead black and white and the street itself seemed dark and threatening instead of bright and colourful. It was as if a cloud of shadow hung only above where they stood. Behind them, the streets were alive with colour, but the further they walked into Cuba street the more the colour of the world began to fade.
Fear and curiosity started to grow inside of them. They stopped. The bucket fountain began to tip water more ferociously. Its buckets creaked with each swing. Creak, Splash, Creak, Splash. The air began to thicken, the wind of windy wellington brushing more hurriedly across their skin. It swept under their feet, pulling out the ground from beneath them. Their heads began to spin, their eyes grew dizzy. Darkness. Silence.
The contestants opened their eyes and gasped. Cuba street was gone… they had been transported to an alternate universe.
