Kia ora, Hamish! Thanks for sharing your work with us! What would you say is your favourite medium to work with currently?

My favorite medium to work with is hand drawing and model making, however it is the marriage between digital manipulation and analogue integration that finalized the work for me personally. I’ve been looking towards Douglas Darden, Lebbeus Woods and Bryan Cantley for inspo.

What or who has been your biggest inspiration and driving force for your work?

A big inspiration for my work is removing myself from places heavily dominated by architecture, emphasizing what is missing when you are truly isolated from the built environment. It's the act of literally leaving the city and exploring the world outside the built environment!

Over the course of your Bachelors Degree, what would you say has been your favourite project to date?

My favourite project to date was definitely the speculative parliament for ARCI 412 with Simon Twose. The speculative parliament project set out to create a building to congregate that embodies the beauty of Aotearoa's natural landscape where the conceptual design scheme speculates “How can this destructive landscape be inhibited?”

Congratulations on recently starting your Masters! What are you looking forward to exploring in the next step in your studies?

Masters is really exciting because I feel it it’s the first real step in a long journey of understanding my own style and what it is I truly care about when it comes to architecture!

Thanks Hamish for sharing your work with us and all the best for this next stage of your studies!
